Measuring Tape and Weight

Using a measuring tape is a simple way to track body shape and sometimes fitness.

But be cautious - fat is bigger than muscle - pound for pound. So, an obese person may want to track inches lost while a person trying to increase muscle mass may want to track inches gained. A person trying to transition from average fitness to a trim/muscular appearance may want to track both depending upon what part of the body they are measuring.

Weight

This is another simple way to track body shape and sometimes fitness. But again, fat is bigger than muscle - pound for pound. Of critical note, an overweight or obese person may want to track total pounds lost, while a person trying to transition from average fitness to a trim/muscular appearance may want to track appearance or percentage of body fat.
