The 10th Annual Frank J. Flaman Foundation Gala is taking place on March 18th, 2016 in Edmonton, AB. (By the way, Frank Flaman founded "Flaman.") Why Frank Cares

Why Frank Cares

Why does Frank Flaman want to make a difference in the world? (By the way, Frank founded "Flaman.") Frank has spent many years learning, reading and researching opportunities in the world and how he can help to end global suffering. He has discovered two major things: The lack of unsafe water and sanitation are the world's largest causes of illness. Food security is of utmost importance! Lack of sustainable food sources leads to malnutrition and death in most parts of the world. And, in the words of Mother Theresa, "If you can't feed 100 people, then feed just one."

Flaman Fitness Wins Edmonton Journal Readers' Choice Award

"Today's the Day." Those three words have been dominant at Flaman Fitness in the past year. But for the national fitness company, they are not just a slogan, but a powerful message that Flaman wants to spread to all Canadians.
How to get off the sofa and out the front door

How to get off the sofa and out the front door

If I had to pick the most important thing I've learned over the past couple of years, it would be, "No matter how good, how accessible, or how cheap a piece of fitness equipment is, if a person does not 'start' or 'want to start,' then nothing happens. I've even wirtten about it here " This is why I love a new book to be released this October by Canada's fitness information leader - Kathleen Trotter – as it addresses this very issue. It is entitled, "Finding Your Fit; A Compassionate Trainer's Guide to Making Fitness a Lifelong Habit."
Maintaining your routine during vacation

Maintaining your routine during vacation

I recently was on vacation, or a "staycation" as lots of people have come to call it. And trying to stay in routine (if you're in one) fitness wise, is definitely a challenge. Motivation at times sort of flies out the window, workouts start to be skipped, but worst of all, your eating habits become lack luster at best. But it's not a bad thing. It's perfectly fine to take a break every once in a while with both the eating right and performing any workouts. But of course you don't want all of your progress/gains to go right out the window either. Guest blog by Brandon Fischer, Flaman Fitness, Burlington, ON
Life in the Fast Pitch Lane

Life in the Fast Pitch Lane

Summer is a busy season for almost everyone, for me it means spending an average of 5 nights a week on the diamond. I laced my first pair of cleats at the age of five and I haven't looked back. Softball is a sport predominately played by women; it's a popular summer past time and has many health and fitness benefits.A guest blog by Callie Tweedie, Graphic Designer for the Flaman Group of Companies (the parent company to Flaman Fitness)

I love being on my paddleboard

I love summer, I love the beach, I love working out and most of all, I LOVE being on my paddleboard! It is the best possible way to work my body hard, clear my mind, and nourish my soul. I have been an avid paddle boarder for at least 7 years, and I was asked to write a blog about it.Here it is!(Submitted by Gwen Spencer of Flaman Fitness, Vernon, BC)

Fitness Equipment, Wearables, and Apps - Compatibility

Physical activity can be recorded, stored, and portrayed via a collection of devices. There are wearable devices - worn on wrist, around waste, around chest. etc. - than can measure your movements (or lack of), heart rate, sleeping patterns, changes in altitude (stairs climbed), body temperature, breathing rates, and other fitness related metrics. Fitness equipment can also measure activity like a wearable and often provide much more accurate measurement - and then submit the information to the same smartphone app or computer software.
Why and what a home gym?

Why and what a home gym?

For decades I travelled to a gym/club and had my work-outs. Then about 2 and a half years ago I moved to an acreage and travelling to a gym/club would have become problematic (at the least). So, I created a home gym.

What University Kinesiology Students Said About 2 Bowflex Products

It was not an easy conclusion for them to arrive at. Early in 2015, Flaman Fitness loaned a Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE home gym and a TC20 TreadClimber to a 4thyear University of Saskatchewan College of Kinesiology class.
